So what. Big deal.
This whole idea that government should hold our hand to take care of our own homeless youth is asinine.
Who created the problem? The government didn't kick these kids out. The government didn't birth them and abandon them.
We did that. That's on us.
The government hasn't helped in a solution. We'll give you that.
But government was never designed to house people. To raise kids. Let alone, house young people.
That's our responsibility. That's always been on us.
Our communities house people. Communities build complexes. Communities raise and support our young people. Communities take in young people.
Not government. Quit looking to government for the main housing solutions for homeless youth.
We created this asinine problem. 40% of young people who show up at a youth shelter are LGBTQ.
That wasn't government. That's us.
So we fix the problem.
Don't blame other people. Don't make excuses. Take responsibility.
And get it done. Geez.
Oh and by the way. These millions that might get slashed?
Are the millions of requested housing dollars the government has to recapture or re-appropriate. Because our agencies and organizations can't figure out how to spend it.
But the media won't give you that housing fact. The narrative is to make your heart bleed for the pitiful poor housing agencies and organizations.
Not to give you any real facts.
Communities house young people. Not government.
