National Small Business Week

Nearly half of all working individuals are employed by small businesses. About 66% of all newly created jobs are created by small businesses. If our country were run by small business owners, staffed with small business employees and created policies like small businesses, our nation would rank somewhere in the top 3 producing countries in the world.

If our country's initiative to end youth homelessness were run by small business owners within our communities, our nation would permanently house every youth without a home within a matter of months. And every youth forced to leave their home due to violence, bigotry or abuse, would obtain permanent housing with supportive services within 24-48 hours.

No read-tape. No bureaucratic barriers. No overblown management levels. No financial waste.

Pure efficacy and effectiveness from the small business owners who would work tirelessly to ensure their business service to our youth who need a home is high-quality. High-satisfactory. High-impact.

Let's celebrate our small businesses. Of all types. In all markets. For-profit and not-for-profits businesses. From small "mom and pop" businesses. To large, but still considered, small businesses. Everyone in it to win. To compete. To bring a better product or service to its customers.

This week, remember to honor those who are creating thousands of jobs for the unemployed.  Eat locally. Shop locally. Buy locally. Serve locally. Work locally.

I'll kick off the small business investing by sinking my fork into a Spicy Korean Beef Rice Bowl with cabbage, cilantro, green onions and topped with a garlic aioli sauce. Purchased from a small business owner at a local farmer's market.

If you've always wanted to try that pizza from that local small business eatery, this is your week to do it. If you've always wanted to buy an outfit from that local clothing shop, this is your week to do it. If you've always wanted started to start your own small business, this is your week to do it.

Small businesses with big impact. More to come throughout the week.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!!!
